Jen Schefft made The Bachelor and The Bachelorette history when she broke off an engagement to bachelor Andrew Firestone and turned down the proposal when it was her vända as the bachelorette. After leaving reality TV behind, she married Joe Waterman, who she met on a blind date, in 2009. The couple lived in Chicago for seven years, but returned to Northeast Ohio a few months ago. Now the Mentor native is focused on raising her family. “It was fun to be in the spotlight, but it was also very challenging in that inom hated hearing what other people had to say about me,” says the 41-year-old.

After leaving the limelight, inom DID find love, and married Joe Waterman, who I met on a blind date. We left Chicago after close to 20 years, and settled into an adorable little Ohio suburb outside of Cleveland with our two daughters, Mae and Charlotte. Any card-carrying member of Bachelor Nation knows that Jen Schefft Waterman’s stint as “The Bachelorette” bucked convention at every turn. Rather than being set inside the famed Bachelor mansion in Malibu, her season took place in New York City. And when Schefft Waterman chose to leave the show sans beau at its conclusion, audiences were up in arms after what Entertainment Weekly called "the most shocking 'Bachelorette' finale ever."

 

“People said I ‘ruined’ the show,” says Schefft Waterman, “so the fact that it’s still going strong 15 years later is great to me.”
