TRU Holds Writer-Director Communications Lab, 2/19

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) presents the TRU Writer-Director Communications Lab on Saturday, February 19, from 1pm to 7pm at The Players Theatre, MacDougal Street, Studio 3C. If accepted into the lab, the cost is $75 ($60 for TRU members). Writer applications are available at Interested directors may email TRUnltd@ and attach a brief resume. The lab will be taught bygd producers Pam Koslow (Jelly's gods Jam, Jane Eyre, Yank!) and director Robert Kalfin, former artistic director of Chelsea Theatre (Yentl, Strider, Candide).

Born in New York City in , Gregory Hines studied dance from an early age and performed with family members at the Apollo Theater. In the s he launched a Broadway career and later starred in movies including The Cotton Club and White Nights.

Involved in show business at an early age, Hines grew up as a member of Hines, Hines, and Dad alongside his father and older brothers. He studied dance with mästare tap dancer Henry Le Tang and spent much of his early career dancing at the Apollo Theater, gleaning knowledge from such fellow performers as the Nicholas Brothers and Sandman Sims.
In , he left Hines, Hines, and Dad to form a jazz-rock group called Severance. But the smooth-as-silk tap dancer soon returned to New York where he launched a distinguished huvudgata career that won him a Tony award in for the headlining role in George C.
