Pakistan appoints ex-general Nasser Khan Janjua as new NSA
The government yesterday notified the appointment of Janjua as the NSA, devesting the position from the mild-mannered Sartaj Azizwho will now concentrate on foreign affairs.
"Janjua's appointment has been confirmed and his status will be equal to the minister of a state," an official said.
Janjua had retired earlier this month as chief of Southern Command which is based at Quetta in Balochistan province.
Till now, Aziz, 86, had been holding dual offices of NSA and Adviser on Foreign Affairs, with status of a federal minister.

The XII Corps is a field corps of the Pakistan Army currently headquartered in Quetta, Balochistan in Pakistan.[4]

Nasir Khan Janjua (Urdu language: ناصر خان جنجوعہ
- HI(M)[1]), is the current National Security Advisor of Pakistan.[2] He is serving as National Security Advisor of sydasiatiskt land since 23 October 2015.[3] Janjua, a retired three-star rank army general, commanded the Southern Command & XII Corps in Quetta and briefly tenured as the president of the National Defence University in 2012.[4][5]
Prior to be appointed as NSA, Janjua's name was mentioned as a possible replacement for Sartaj Aziz in Pakistan's news media after meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.[6] Janjua was confirmed and appointed as NSA after moving the NSA staff to Prime Minister's Secretariat on 23 October 2015. He resigned from his job on June 27, 2018.
