Mark Owen
Mark Owen is a former United States Navy SEAL who served his country for 14 years, participating in over 13 deployments in support of combat operations and the Global War on Terror (GWOT). Owen received his bachelorâs degree in , and upon graduating from college, he enlisted in the Navy to pursue his dream of serving his country as a Navy SEAL. He successfully graduated as BUDS class âHonor-manâ and was subsequently stationed at SEAL Team Five. During his first deployment as a Navy SEAL, the events of 9/11 unfolded, and Owen was among some of the first to be deployed in support of the GWOT.

MARK OWEN, author of No Easy Day and No Hero, is a former member of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group, commonly known as SEAL Team Six. In his many years as a Navy SEAL, he has participated in hundreds of missions around the globe, including the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips in the Indian Ocean in Owen was a team leader on Operation Neptune Spear in Abbottabad, Pakistan, on May 1, , which resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden. The book chronicles his life and military service, but mostly is about his involvement with Operation Neptune Spear. Bissonnette writes that he was present on the third floor of Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad when the terrorist leader was killed.[1]
