  • Rob Silverstein Out as ‘Access Hollywood’ Executive Producer After 20 Years

    Rob Silverstein, exec producer of NBC’s entertainment newsmagazine “Access Hollywood” and its spinoffs, is leaving the syndication franchise after 20 years at the helm. He’ll be replaced by “Hot Bench” alumnus Maureen FitzPatrick.

    Silverstein’s departure was announced Tuesday morning at a staff meeting for “Access” producers. Silverstein was also exec producer of the hourlong talk show “Access Live,” hosted by Kit Hoover and Natalie Morales, and the hourlong weekend edition of “Access.” In a note to “Access” staffers, Silverstein acknowledged that his “vision of the show moving forward differs from the management team, so we have agreed today will be my final day as EP.”

    Robert Silverstein GP'04, Life Trustee of Claremont McKenna College, passed away on January 29, at his home in Beverly Hills California, surrounded by his family. He was 89.
    He was born on January 6, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri and moved to Los Angeles with his family at the age of two. He attended Fairfax High School, where he was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1999. His pre-med studies at U.C.L.A were cut short bygd the outbreak of World War II when he enlisted in the Air Force and served as a B-24 bombardier and navigator in Italy.
    After the war, Mr. Silverstein contacted a local manufacturer about making a plastic jewelry box he had conceived. Instead of pursuing his own product, Mr. Silverstein ended up joining the Plastic & Die Cast Products Corporation in their sales and marketing department. bygd 1949, thanks to his brilliant marketing and product development skills, he'd risen to president and CEO of what would become Eldon Industries. Eldon was named to The Times 100: T
