Who is Kapil Sharma?
Kapil Sharma is an Indian stand-up comedian, television personality, actor, and filmmaker. He was born in Amritsar, Punjab.
Sharma rose to popularity in 2007 after winning "The Great Indian Laughter Challenge", a humorous reality television show on Star One. He then proceeded to win six seasons on Sony's "Comedy Circus." He has also anchored Season 6 of 'Jhalak Dikhhla Ja' and 'Chhote Miyan' (comedy show) on Colors.
After hosting a TV reality dance show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2013, Sharma launched his own comic talk show, Comedy Nights with Kapil, which premiered on Colors. He hosted the show till January 2016. Sharma chose to end the show after a three-year successful run due to disputes with the channel Colors. Later, he got a deal with Sony TV for The Kapil Sharma Show, a new show which began its journey on April 23, 2016, when the first episode premiered.

Currently he hosts The Kapil Sharma Show.[2] He also hosted television comedy shows like Comedy Nights with Kapil, The Kapil Sharma Show, Family Time with Kapil, Chhote Miyan and Jhalak Dikhla Jaa season 6 on Colors. In 2009, he joined the comedy reality show Hans Baliye as a wild card entry.He also won comedy series Comedy Circus Ke Superstars.At CNN-IBN Indian of the Year awards, Sharma was felicitated with Entertainer of the Year award for 2013 by Amol Palekar.In 2014 Lok Sabha Election, he was declared the Brand Ambassador by Delhi election commission.He was to man his film debut with Yashraj film's Bank Chor, but the comedian opted out of it.He is going feature as a first guest on the opening episode of the famous Indian television game show Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 8 on the 2nd of August.

Kapil Sharma (born Kapil Punj; 2 April 1981)[1] is an Indian stand-up comedian, television host, actor, dubbing artist, producer and singer. Sharma is the host on the stand-up comedy and talk show The Great Indian Kapil Show and The Kapil Sharma Show and has received five Indian Television Academy Awards.[2]
Sharma won the stand-up comedy reality show, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge season 3 in 2007.[3] He has hosted and produced television comedy shows such as Comedy Nights with Kapil and Family Time with Kapil. He has won seasons of the comedy show Comedy Circus along with various partners and in 2011 participated in the singing reality show Star Ya Rockstar, where he finished as the second runner-up.[4]
